The northern part of Road 2 (in the segment from Zichron Ya’akov towards Atlit) exhibited cracks in the asphalt that were caused by swelling and the material’s fatigue.
The entrepreneur, the national roads company of Israel (National Transport Infrastructure Company Ltd) decided to treat the existing asphalt by placing an anti-reflective cracking geogrid.
The project was carried out in 2006 and since then no need arose to perform any further treatment on the asphalt (in contrast to treatments that were performed annually on the asphalt before the reinforcement works).
